Energy Department opens up $2.5B for carbon capture demonstration projects. Politico. The Energy Department said Thursday it is offering up to $2.5 billion to fund carbon capture and storage technology development projects. The DOE, using funds made available in the bipartisan infrastructure law, will offer up to $1.7 billion toward six projects that would demonstrate commercial-scale carbon capture technologies working along with carbon dioxide pipeline and storage infrastructure. Another $820 million will be offered for up to 10 projects that use more experimental technologies that could capture emissions in the power and industrial sectors.
