We Energies has added 128 MW of natural-gas capacity at the Weston Power Plant near Wausau, Wisconsin.

The Weston RICE facility is jointly owned by We Energies and fellow WEC Energy Group subsidiary Wisconsin Public Service, with each company owning 50% of the capacity.

We Energies said the new facility is the first large-scale project in the state to feature reciprocating internal combustion engines, or RICE units.

The Weston RICE project includes seven units. Construction of the project began in 2022.
