Consulting and research firm E Source said it bought AAC Utility Partners, the company’s eighth acquisition in the last two years.

AAC helps municipal and investor-owned utilities with strategy, cloud services and project implementation. The acquisition will help E Source build a customer-first portfolio of digital, data-driven solutions, the company said in a statement.

“There is no substitute for AAC’s proven expertise and track record of success in implementing large technology projects that are foundational to becoming a modern, digital utility,” said E Source CEO Ted Schultz.

E Source is based in Boulder, Colorado, and is backed by Align Capital Partners. It has acquired several consulting companies in the last two years, including Exergy Corp., Cairn ERA and StrategyWise.
