Job change announcements in the electric power and clean tech sectors.

Lithium-ion battery maker Amprius Technologies named Siyu Jiang as its VP of legal affairs. In her most recent role as senior corporate associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati, she helped advise Amprius on corporate governance and transactional matters. Earlier, she was an associate at Davis Polk and Wardell, serving as counsel for public offerings and capital markets deals. She earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, graduating cum laude.

Alabama Power president and CEO Mark Crosswhite is retiring, effective Dec. 31.  A successor will be named at a later date. Crosswhite became president and CEO of Alabama Power in March 2014, returning to Alabama Power from Southern Company where he served as COO. From 2010 to 2012 he served as president and CEO of Florida-based Gulf Power. Earlier, he served as EVP for external affairs at Alabama Power. He began his Alabama Power career in 2006 as SVP and counsel. He joined Southern Company in 2004 as SVP and general counsel for Southern Company Generation. Before that, he represented the company in private practice for 17 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 1984 from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1987. 

Direct air capture company CarbonCapture named Robert Whyte to the newly created role of VP, Projects. His initial focus will be on the rollout of CarbonCapture’s Project Bisonvin Wyoming, which is slated to break ground in 2023. Whyte spent nearly 20 years at Suncor Energy Service. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Mechanical from University of Victoria, a diploma of Mechanical Engineering Technology from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.

ReneSola Ltd said that Himanshu H. Shah, founder and CIO of Shah Capital, was named as chairman of the board of directors. Shah Capital is a long-term stakeholder and has over 22% ownership of ReneSola Power. Himanshu joined ReneSola Power as a director in March. He is also the executive chairman of Marius Pharmaceuticals, and previously served on the board of directors of Vitamin Shoppe.
