Clarion Energy is pleased to announce José N. Reyes, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of NuScale Power, will join other elite-level keynote speakers at POWERGEN 2023, alongside top utility and industry thinkers.
NuScale Power is a pioneer in small nuclear reactors. Last week, in a milestone announcement, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) certified the design of NuScale’s power module, the first SMR and just the seventh reactor design approved in the U.S.
The rule takes effects February 21, the day Dr. Reyes will take the stage at POWERGEN.
Dr. Reyes co-designed the passively-cooled SMR and has served as NuScale’s CTO since 2007. He is an internationally recognized expert on passive safety system design, testing and operations for nuclear power plants. He has also served as a United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency technical expert on passive safety systems.
Dr. Reyes is a co-inventor on more than 110 patents granted or pending in 20 countries. He has received several national awards, including the 2013 Nuclear Energy Advocate Award, the 2014 American Nuclear Society Thermal Hydraulic Division Technical Achievement Award, the 2017 Nuclear Infrastructure Council Trailblazer Award, the 2021 American Nuclear Society Walter H. Zinn Medal and 2021 inductee into the University of Maryland Innovator’s Hall of Fame.
The POWERGEN International keynote will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM ET in the Valencia Ballroom at the Orange County Convention Center. Register for the show.
