Dr. Richard Esposito, Program Manager, Geosciences and Carbon Management, Southern Company

Notable: Dr. Esposito has more than 25 years of experience in the electric utility industry. In his current role, Esposito works with a wide range of energy-related issues including energy storage, geothermal power, deep well disposal of wastewater, enhanced oil recovery and carbon storage in geologic formations.

Dr. Esposito will be presenting Federal section 45Q carbon capture credits explained, which will dive into how the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act expects to benefit carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects. That session will be Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 1:00pm – 1:30pm.

Quotable: “A lot of companies and third-party developers are coming in and developing carbon storage fields. It’s kind of the tail wagging the dog right now. The storage fields are getting developed ahead of the capture, because the developers are seeing that the 45Q tax credit being increased is going to stimulate more companies to do carbon capture.”

Dr. Esposito will also be a panelist on Carbon capture, pipeline transport & geologic storage, which takes place Wednesday Feb. 22 at 1:30pm – 2:35pm. Please don’t miss this opportunity to join us in Orlando. You can learn more about our speakers and register at POWERGEN.com.
