A 1,200 MW combined cycle power plant under the Electric Power Development Company (J-Power) is now commercially operating in Elwood, Illinois.
The plant’s combustion turbine, steam turbine, generator and heat recovery steam generator were provided by Mitsubishi Power, which noted the two M501JAC turbines supplied were the first in commercial operation to be manufactured in North America.
Jackson Generation was designed and constructed by Kiewit Power Constructors Co.
The station becomes J-Power’s 11th operating gas-fired plant in the U.S. J-Power has projects in seven states, representing 5,400 MW of capacity:
