Capstone Green Energy Corp. said it booked an order for a 1.2 MW energy system to serve a northern Illinois gas utility company at one of its natural gas facilities.

The order includes two Capstone C600 Signature Series microturbines that will be fueled by the customer’s available high-pressure natural gas. The microturbines will be the site’s only source of electricity, and are expected to be commissioned this fall.

According to Capstone’s web site, the C600S machines carry a rating of 600 kW, an electrical efficiency of 33% and a combined heat and power efficiency of up to 90%. They have a net heat rate LHV of 10,300 Btu/kWh, and are compatible with fuels that include natural gas, liquid fuels, biogas, associated gas, sour gas and LPG.
